The Old

For half my life I have consciously pursued my art. Most of those years trying to work as an inker in the comic field. I have not had what you would call great success. Honestly you wouldn't call it success. I've been published quite a few times. Just never for pay equal to the work. I've been right to the cusp of working at the Big Two. I've just never made that jump.
I think I figured out the key. I am not an inker. Never have been one. An Inker i meant to follow. I have a hard time doing that. My natural tendency is to lead. Leading in my other life has paid me well and earned all the things I thought I would get as an inker, money, respect and confidence. In my other world I am the alpha dog. The best in show. I don't back down and I don't settle for anything less than the best.

Idea Jumble

I am trying everyday to create images. I am starting to feel a bit more rhythm to what I am trying to do.

Leading Fanatics

I was working on a post about leading by precise direction or a more natural lead by doing what's best to win method.

Fuck that. I've spent too much time on this shit lately.

Now for something really interesting.

I started working in 1986.
My taxed earnings for that year are $ 666

I think that is the most damn appropriate number.
Work is my devil. No two ways about it. Always has been, always will be.

Double Post - 2 a thought

An interesting day filled with conversations. I interviewed for a postition today with someone whom, based on less than solid information, thought I was reaching beyond my status. It was nice to prove that wrong. By pushing this path I was able to direct a conversation with my district manager that addressed a very large gap in our communication. Now we are both to blame for this gap, that I will admit. The very interesting thing is how differently we see how this gap came into being. Said district manager claims we had a long conversation 9 months ago or so where i expressed opinions about the weakness of a program he was rolling out. This proves interesting to me because I have no recollection of this ever transpiring.

We spoke at length about the differences in how we see the way it goes. We are proceeding with what was described as a "clean slate".

It's a dirty world and nothing is clean.

I think I am overdue to visit my friend Sun-Tzu
Corporate life is a lot like Gladiator. We don't use swords but you can still get thrown to the lions.

Double Post - Art first

Damn it you just need art. Nothing is better than ink on paper.

The Line

"There's a thin line between confidence and arrogance"

I truly hate that fucking line. It's a shield for the weak of mind. In today's world it seems to be a crime to actually be good at what you do.
You should be humble. You should just listen to what they have to say.

Fuck that.

Look at Hefner, Gates, Murdoch, Turner, and Oprah. Think they stop to reflect.
Each of them makes tens of thousands of dollars a minute. Acknowledge, decide and move the fuck on.

I think a better line is
"Being in a German beer hall really made it feel like we were in Germany."
Kendra (Hefner's youngest girlfriend while they were in Germany)
That's the measure of today's world.

There is always time for art.

Some new art

I've been trying, i really have

Corporate Whore

I have spent most of the past decade working for large corporations. Retail chains and rental car. Mostly in special skills positions. Mostly in management positions.
Without fail there is spark and controversy.
When I'm steering the ship, results happen. So far, I have never failed to make that happen.
Every single time, it comes up that I am too arrogant, too cocksure of what I do.
Every time this happens it comes from someone who has never actually worked with me.

I am sick to death of these whiny ass motherfuckers. I am tired of useless wannabes who cry when it gets hard. Its supposed to get hard.

I don't give a damn about their feelings. I step up, do my job and deliver better than what I get paid to.
What do I get.
Worthless motherfuckers telling me how I need to take care of something that I already did four months ago. Nothing is more irritating than listening to some bitch tell me how to run my house when the useless fuck hasn't had the balls to come in the door in over five months.

The really fucked up thing is I chose this life because I have bills to pay and don't really like going two or three days without eating. Had enough of that shit when I was a kid.

And because I chose to do this I will continue to do it to the best of my ability. Any stupid motherfucker gets in my way, he better damn well be sure he can take me down. I may be arrogant but that don't mean I'm stupid.

have a nice day.

Time for a change

The american way is starting to stumble. We've fallen into a period of stagnatation that is leading to a failure of growth. The future demands change.

We are a beast of a nation, dependent on oil. Oil we do not have. Our current policy of securing oil overseas has had lackluster results. It is time for a new direction. One that will provide dual benefits. We will be awash in our precious black gold and we will define a new direction for the safety of our borders. To put it simply, we need to absorb Mexico into the United States.

Our border is porous and uncontrollable. Immigrants pour across it at an uncontrollable rate. Not to mention the billions of dollars we have given and or loaned them across the years. For what we have paid, we shouldn't have a neighbor that has an ineffective, corrupt government on a scale that dwarfs every other nation in the world. We need to set about a change.

A change that will divide Mexico into several great states for our bastion of democracy. Our flag has held at fifty for too long. It is time to protect our nation by making an expansion that will help millions achieve what they so dearly want. The right to pay United States income tax.

We became the greatest nation on the earth by growing. It's time to renew that growth, so we can remain the greatest nation on the earth.

Alex Toth, R.I.P.

Alex Toth passed away on Saturday, May 27th.

His deceptively simple line conveyed the true power of graphics.
The man may have moved on, but the work remains.
